Washington Connections at Santa Anita's Big 'Cap Weekend

Reba Is Tops
Marshall, Jarnig and Schweiger’s multiple champion Reba Is Tops finished her exemplary turf career with a third place finish in the March 5 Clocker’s Corner Handicap. The seven-year-old daughter of He’s Tops retired to the breeding shed with earnings of $464,267.
 
While WTBOA sales star Smiling Tiger stayed in the barn on Big ’Cap day, the four-year-old colt increased his totals to just shy of $1-million after a victory in the Count Fleet Handicap (G3) at Oaklawn Park in April.

Honour the Deputy
Mark Dedomenico, Dr. George Todaro and partners’ sophomore Honour the Deputy earned his first stakes placement in the Santana Mile and would later run second in the Tokyo City Cup Stakes (G3).
 
Frank Lucarelli
Gallant Son
Frank Lucarelli saddled Randall and Rossi LLC’s Gallant Son in the Frank Kilroe Mile Stakes (G1). The 2008 Gottstein Futurity winner, who has earned $312,632, would next run third in the Joe Hernandez Stakes run over Santa Anita’s downhill turf course.
 
2009 Washington Racing Hall of Fame inductee Kathy Walsh saddled Al and Sandee Kirkwood’s Purely Awesome for his second place finish in a maiden special weight race.
